I have come across numerous other people’s rants about JVC and their insanely stupid and incompatible MOD file format. I’ve downloaded one video codec after another today trying to find the secret magic formula for playing this stupid video on my own PC but still no success. I also tried to import these files in windows movie maker but it wont do it. JPRLog- JVC camcorder has many models, some of which capture videos in MOD format, some in TOD format and some in AVCHD format.Neither of those formats can be recognized by windows movie maker directly. I try to play these video files on windows media player but it wont play.
Actually, Windows Media Player would pick a more or less random still shot from somewhere near the beginning of the video and display that while the sound played in the background. This camera uses a strange video file extension (.mod). BUT, next day tried to play the same original videos on my own Dell laptop. Downloaded that and now the sound plays fine along with the video.
